February 17th - Forgiveness

Good Friday Morning,

Its been a week almost since I have posted, I have been busy and trying to work somethings out in my life.

This week I have been working on learning forgiveness, not just for other but for myself.  This will not be an easy task on either side.

Some things I find important that will  help me on this path.

#1 (reading my bible)
Matthew 6:15
But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins

#2 Working with my counselor on how to forgive myself.

#3 Educate myself on how to forgive, by reading and studying ways to forgive.

I am looking forward to releasing this monkey for lack of a better word off of my back and being free, freedom from this heaviness I feel towards life.   I don't want to miss out on the wonderful joy and peace each day brings.  I want to love life daily.

I have the power and authority over my life to make these changes with the help of many things and people but especially my lord and savior Jesus Christ.  Just say thing that is powerful and uplifting.

What are the benefits of forgiving someone?

Letting go of grudges and bitterness can make way for compassion, kindness and peace. Forgiveness can lead to:
Healthier relationships

  • Greater spiritual and psychological well-being
  • Less anxiety, stress and hostility
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Fewer symptoms of depression
  • Lower risk of alcohol and substance abuse

The below is excerpted from "Taking Out the Trash," chapter 5 of Real Marriage and the sermon topic this week.

9 Things that Forgiveness is NOT

1. Forgiveness is not denying, approving, or diminishing sin that is committed against us.

We cannot say we are fine, that it was no big deal, or that, since it was in the past, we’ve just moved on. We must be honest about the reality of the sin if we want the forgiveness to be equally earnest. In forgiving, we are, in fact, saying they are wrong, we do not approve of their sin, and that it really is a big deal and not a trivial matter to us.

2. Forgiveness is not naïveté.

Naïve people are prone to live as if the world were not filled with depraved sinners capable of evil, and they often become naïve by not really looking at the sinfulness of sin, including their own. Such people are not forgiving sin as much as they are ignoring it.

3. Forgiveness is not enabling sin.

To forgive people is not to remain stuck in their cycle of sin, thus being complicit and enabling their continued transgression.

4. Forgiveness is not waiting for someone to acknowledge sin, apologize, and repent.

The sad truth is that some people will never fully repent, and others never at all. Others we will never see again, or they will die before we hear an apology. We forgive because it is what God requires and what we need, not because our offenders have apologized.

5. Forgiveness is not forgetting about sin committed against us.

It is actually impossible to completely forget such things. This is why when God says, “Their sin I will remember no more,” it does not mean that he has no memory, but rather that he continually chooses not to bring it up or keep it in the forefront of his thinking. Indeed, because God is all-knowing, it is, in fact, impossible for him to actually forget something.

6. Forgiveness is not dying emotionally and no longer feeling the pain of the transgression.

Rather, forgiveness allows us to feel the appropriate depth of grievous pain but choose by grace not to be continually paralyzed or defined by it.

7. Forgiveness is not a one-time event.

Those who have been sinned against commonly have seasons when they feel afresh the pain of past hurts and have to forgive their transgressors yet again.

8. Forgiveness is not reconciliation.

It takes one sinner to repent, and one victim to forgive, but it takes both to reconcile. Therefore, unless there is both repentance by the sinner and forgiveness by the victim, reconciliation cannot occur, which means the relationship remains continually broken until reconciliation does occur. Forgiveness is the beginning of potential reconciliation but is not in and of itself reconciliation. Forgiveness takes a moment. The trust that reconciliation requires is gained slowly and lost quickly.

9. Forgiveness is not neglecting justice.

In fact, if a crime has been committed, we can simultaneously forgive someone and call the police to arrest him or her. God will deal with every sin of every human being justly. For those who repent of sin and come to faith in Jesus Christ, justice came at the cross of Jesus, when our Savior suffered and died in our place for our sins. For those who do not repent of sin and come to faith in Jesus Christ, their justice will come in the punishment that is assigned to them in the conscious eternal torments of hell. By not seeking vengeance, we are not neglecting justice, but rather trusting God for perfect justice and getting ourselves out of the middle between the sinner and God. Romans 12:19 instructs precisely this: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”
We know that we are not bitter when we actually want those who have sinned against us to be maturing Christians and, in addition to praying for them, we forgive them in hopes of showing them the gospel of grace.

This part of today's  blog is the start of my education of the forgiveness process, I hope that it might help others also.

Feb 9th - Terrific Thursday

Today is a day of remembering the younger days.

The picture up above is one of the 2 main roads in the town I grew up in, some of you still live there and some of you have moved on.

I have some good memories from this good old town called Central Lake (Michigan).  I moved there in 6th grade and moved away in the middle of my senior year (wish I had a do over on that part).  I made some really good friends and met some really interesting people.  Life as a middle schooler and high schooler, all the little things seemed so big back then.

The store on the right with green and red trim use to be a pizza place and could still be not 100% sure.  We would all walk down there just about everyday for lunch and get a reqtangular piece of pizza and cup of soda for a buck LOL.  We would then go over to candy store across the street  Bachmanns and get 1, 10, 20 cent candies and sneak them back into class.

To all my high school friends/aquaintances I miss those days sometimes.  I hope  your all doing well and are happy.

The lord says fear not 360 times in the bible I think thats a pretty good number.  We should say that at least 360 days each year to ourselves.

Feb 8th - Rockin Wednesday

Good Morning world,

Well its been a few days I didnt get to post on Monday or Tuesday due to my schedule so I need to catch up.

We went up north this past weekend to look at some property that we thought might be options.  Well I can tell you one lesson we learned on this journey is that those pictures can be very deceiving.  We learned to do a little more digging and what questions we need to ask before we travel again to see any more property.

I really enjoyed my trip, mike and I got to spend some really nice time together. We went up to Grayling and Gaylord Mi, I was shocked that they didnt have much snow as you can see below.   We were able to see a little wild life, 6 turkeys, 1 deer and a partridge in a tree.. no joke LOL.

My fitness today will have to be a nice walk, but come friday I am back at the GYM with my cardio an Zumba :)

February 3rd - My Four Favorite Men (MFFM)

Well its officially the weekend and I couldn't be happier.  Had a great dinner with 2 of my favorite guys last night Gabe and Mike with a little shopping afterwards.  Good Times

There are 4 very special men in my life that mean the world to me and I wanted to share today.  I wasn't sure how to order them so I am going to start at the beginning with the one who entered my life first - last.

Kristopher Chester Perry

This little guys was pretty cute and pretty funny, when he was little he use to think that closing his eye meant that we couldn't see him either.  He was the 3rd and youngest of my moms children.  (4th child in the family)  I was 16 when he was born and my mom worked a lot so I helped take care of him when I was still at home.   When I went out on my own he would come spent the night with me, a lot of memories.

Now he is a grown man, college graduate and a father of one cute little boy.  He is married to my sister in law Billie who is the sweetest little thing from NY.

Don't hold it against him he doesn't know any better LOL , nice hat huh.

Gabriel Ives Patrick

This next little guy is my baby boy, he was a hyper active little guy. He was climbing trees at like 3 and jumping over the back of the couch.  No fear

After doing what boys do and testing the waters, he has grown up a bit :)  He is now a 19 year old young man, trying to find himself and what life has to offer.  He has big heart.

I love you buddy

Dekon Rage Perry

My third little man is special in his own way, he is my nephew.  My brothers son Dekon Rage , gotta love the name which is a result of my brothers MMA adventure.  This is hard to explain but he is more than a nephew, he is almost a grandson or something of equal standing.   My Mom wasn't able to meet him so I think its on me to be there for him and make sure he knows what a grandma does.  She loved her grand kids and would have loved this little man.. :)

He is now 2 and is giving it right back to my brother from his younger days hahahaha..  He is stubborn and can drive his crazy.   But he has the cutest eyes and can melt your heart with just a smile.

Michael Wayne Thompson

What can I say.. the man who melted my heart.  I prayed to god to lead to life where I could be happy and at peace.   I started talked to his guy and he was very nice and sweet but I was like not really looking for something serious.. we talked for a bit maybe 2 weeks online on and off. This is when Dekon was born so I headed south without letting him know I was going to be gone for a week.. poor guy sat at the library each day waiting to see if I would get online..  I didn't know this until quiet a while later.  He is the most loving man, he cares about others and loves his kids.  He is a godly man and we share that together.

First day I met him he cooked dinner and I still think he put love potion # 9 in there somewhere.

We I finally gave in and on July 17th 2011 we married and I couldn't be happier.. I have a wonderful man who wants to love me and does it everyday in so many ways.. I love you babe..

Christmas 2011 :)

Well this is what was on my heart today.  I will be back Monday to share my weekend, headed to Ohio and Grayling all in one weekend should have lots to talk about and maybe even some pictures.

Have a great weekend and god bless.

Happy Thursday February 2nd 2012

Good Morning to all on this typical grey Michigan day.  Looks like we will have  6 more weeks of winter according our national rodent.  I am not to disappointed as we have had a pretty good winter so far I don't think 6 more weeks is all that bad considering.

This is a very different tribute. Without words. A solitary Marine’s simple tribute to those United States Marines who have fallen for us all. Remember them, share this with your friends.

Today I will be walking for my fitness

Goals

Today my goal is around love and how to share it,  that old saying "Love makes the world go round"  well I am going make sure I tell my loved ones how much I love them and appreciate them.

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous;
love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly;
it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails...But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

February 1st 2012

Life

After hitting the snooze button twice I was up early enough to go to the gym before work which I will talk about further down on my post.

We are starting to plan our move/RV adventure.  We will be doing some RV living this summer while we shop around of a place to live farther north in Michigan.    If you haven't read about RV living you should its very different.

We started making lists of things to do each month before our final day here in Lansing, MI so we can be prepared.  One of the things i am not looking forward to is packing but it will all be worth it when we are done.

January

Well my Blog Journey will start in February as I did get a late start on creating my blog page.  Most of January was just getting back to work after a long 2 week holiday season.  During January I also realized that I need to work harder on my health so you will see my updates on that starting in Feb.
Looking forward to my 2012 blog journey.  My first :)
